Hope not Hate - Sheffield Thu 6th Sept 2012
Paul Heaton - Without doubt one of the finest singer song-writer’s of his generation, marketing men will tell you that something like one in five homes has a Paul Heaton album. Be it from his time fronting the Housemartins or later the massively successful Beautiful South, Paul Heaton has been troubling the charts with melodies, anthems, kitchen-sink dramas and vignettes for over twenty five years.
Already this year Paul has toured Britain and Ireland on his bicycle covering some 2500 miles in his campaign to save the pub. Having competed that, he wasted no time in touring with his production of the “8th” an eight verse song sung and narrated by some of the finest and unique vocal and acting talents from both here and the USA.
Now with three sublime solo albums now under his belt, Heaton still occasionally reminds us of his multi million selling back catalogue. It is a catalogue still as crisp and bitter sweet as the first time those songs took you by the throat.
Paul and his band return home to Sheffield on September 6th to support of the Hope Not Hate campaign, proudly supported by Sheffield Indie band Standard Fare. For more details and to book tickets click here

Paul Heaton - The Paul Heaton 50/50 Tour Paul Heaton is set to celebrate his 50th birthday by getting back on his bicycle for his 50:50 tour. He’ll be peddling 2500 miles – 50 miles for each year he’s been on the planet – and supporting local boozers with a string of extra special shows at pubs across the UK and Ireland.
After the success of the 2010 Pedals and Pumps Tour, the ex Housemartins and Beautiful South front man has announced a new Spring tour to celebrate the art of cycling, and continue his support of great British & Irish pubs.
Paul’s mammoth journey will span 40 days and take in 33 shows. Journeying from Salford in Greater Manchester, Heaton will travel through the Lake District to the North East, and up into the Highlands & Lowlands of Scotland. Performing at some of the finest taverns around, Paul & his band will continue across the Irish Sea to Derry, then down through Southern Ireland, across Wales and into South West England. The tour will culminate in a jaunt across the South coast ending with a show at The Pelton Arms in Greenwich, London.
It is a great chance to see Paul in very intimate surroundings playing songs crafted close to our hearts, songs from his extensive back catalogue, and some new ones too. Where better than in your local pub?
The end of 2011 saw Paul renew his passion and commitment to the pub industry by taking over the reigns of Salford’s famous The Kings Arms. The pub will also see Paul and his band kick off this fantastic run of dates on Monday May 15th.
As with his previous tour, fans are encouraged to cycle to each show, and join Paul on this long and winding route between Monday 15th May and Tuesday 23rd June 2012.
You can celebrate Paul Heaton’s 50th birthday at the places listed here.
